Bee Hive Lodge #66 History

In the early months of our year and Lord 1919,

a group of men, eighteen (18) in number, desirous of becoming Masons.  They petition the Most Worshipful United Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Maryland (now known as the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, State of Maryland, and it's jurisdiction, Inc.) for a dispensation or warrant.  The men wanted to organize  a Masonic Lodge to practice Freemasonry in their community , known as Pomonkey, Maryland. 


Their petition was received and favorably  acted upon by the said Grand Lodge and a dispensation was granted on September 28, 1919, to these gentlemen to organize and meet as a Masonic Lodge to be known as Bee Hive Lodge No, 66, located in the County of Charles, in the town of Pomonkey, Maryland. 


The signers of the dispensation were as follows:

M.W.  Joseph E. Evans, Most Worshipful Grand Master

R.W. William E Fletcher, Deputy Grand Master 

R.W. Charles W. Simms, Senior Grand Warden

R.W. Marshall E. Jenkins, Junior Grand Warden 

R.W. George F. Duppin, Grand Secretary 


The following are a list of the Charter Members who were part of this historic event and instrumental  in the formation  of Bee Hive Lodge:

The following Brothers were the first constitutional officers of the newly formed Bee Hive Lodge No. 66:

Bro. William Henson, Treasurer 


And thus they proceeded, under the capable leadership and wisdom of Worshipful Master Rev. Bro. Frederick D. Myers and his cabinet.  The undertaking of bringing to. the surrounding communities, the valuable tenets, and the precepts of Freemasonry.  And to translate into actions its effective doctrines as Bee Hive Lodge No. 66.
